Youth Support
Youth Support provides a one-on-one service, with kaimahi working alongside young people aged 10-17, and their whānau, to address difficulties or obstacles in their lives.
The Youth Support Service is free and confidential. It usually involves a Youth Support worker assisting rangatahi to develop an action plan based on what is concerning them and setting a time to achieve their goals. This can include supporting them to access the resources or services they need.
If appropriate, the Youth Support worker will also work with a young person’s family to ensure that the necessary skills are passed on to provide continued support once involvement with the service has ended.
How to get involved with Youth Support
Anyone can refer themselves or the young person that they are working with. Youth Support is designed to work alongside rangatahi, so please ensure you have the consent of the young person before referring them to us.
Referral forms can be collected from the Safer Mid Canterbury office at Community House, through school counsellors, or other local social services providers.
