Court Contact Service
Our Supervised Contact service is a Family Court-ordered service which enables a child to spend time with a parent or family member with whom they do not have day-to-day contact.
We are a Ministry of Justice-approved provider, and have trained Safer Mid Canterbury staff who supervise all contact meetings and provide a controlled, safe and caring environment for tamariki and their parents and other family members.
This supervision allows children to feel comfortable as they make contact or reconnect with a parent or family member who is not their day-to-day caregiver.
The process involves individual face-to-face initial assessment meetings with both the day-to-day caregiver and the parent/family member to be supervised, where the contact sessions’ timeframes and boundaries are set, inclusive of where, when, who and how.
From there, the number of sessions are decided by the Family Court judge and are continued until such time that there is a successful application for the contact to be non-supervised or cancelled.
If you are going through the Family Court process, or you would like to find out more about how supervised contact can work for you, please contact us to speak to our Supervised Contact team. Please note that we do not provide private supervised contact services.
